Roswell is by the well-known Oldenburg stallion Royal Appearance by Riverman. His dam Ultra Violet is by World Cup winner and leading international jumper sire Emilion VDL and out of a Voltaire-line mare. Roswell was a Premium foal at his inspection and was Champion Colt and Grand Champion at his very first USEA Future Event Horse show in the summer of 2008. Comments included "Good type. Strong top line. Shows power to give scope and cover a lot of ground. Natural uphill balance." Despite Roswell's impeccable jumping bloodlines, he shows freedom and reach through the shoulder, suspension, and scope for dressage.

Currently, Roswell is building strength and fitness to advance his dressage career. As a young horse, he had experience jumping small fences in the ring, as well as water and ditches cross-country. His temperament is proving to be very willing and kind. Roswell has no vices and cross-ties, bathes, clips, loads, and stands for the farrier.

Sire Royal Appearance scored a 9 for jumping at his Stallion licensing and was East Coast Reserve Champion Young Horse Jumper under Margie Engle.

Grand-Sire Riverman was Reserve Champion of his Holsteiner Stallion licensing and garnered "Top Model" honors.

Dam's Sire Emilion is a World Cup Champion and one of the world's top producers of jumpers.
